The Ohio Athletic Department announced additions and changes to its future nonconference schedule Monday afternoon.
The Bobcats’ home game with Cincinnati, which was originally scheduled for 2021, was moved to Sept. 12, 2026. Ohio lost to the Bearcats at Nippert Stadium last season in September.
Ohio will play at Penn State on Sept. 10, 2022. It will be the Bobcats’ first visit to Happy Valley since Sept. 1, 2012, when they upset the Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium.
Syracuse will now visit Athens in part of a home-and-home series, with the first meeting coming on Sept. 4, 2021, at Peden Stadium. Three years later, the Bobcats will visit the Carrier Dome on Aug. 31, 2024, to kick off the 2024 campaign. The two programs have not faced off on the gridiron since 1921.
Other additions to the scheduled include a Sept. 13, 2025, visit to Illinois. The game is the only nonconference game slated for 2025, which means the Bobcats will have to add three more games to the schedule.
Ohio will also make a trip to Rutgers on Sept. 30, 2023, the first meeting between the two since the 2011 season. On Sept. 25, 2021, Northwestern will host the Bobcats at Ryan Field. Three seasons later, Ohio will make the drive down to Lexington, Kentucky, on Sept. 21, 2024, to take on the Kentucky Wildcats for the first time since 2014.
